DRIFT Debuts in Perth and Brisbane as Untitled Group Adds a Single-Day Electronic Festival

Untitled Group is widening its Australian festival lineup with DRIFT, a new single-day electronic music event that will open in Perth before moving to Brisbane. The organizers say the event is built around discovery, with two stages in each city and a mix of international and local acts. The lineup has not yet been announced.

Two Cities, Two Very Different Settings

The festival will make its debut at Ozone Reserve in Perth on Sunday, February 28, and return for a Saturday, March 6 edition at Brisbane's Gateway Bridge Underpass. The Perth date falls over the Labour Day long weekend and takes advantage of its waterfront location. The Brisbane edition is set in an industrial space, giving the Saturday night event a markedly different atmosphere.

A Concept Built Around Drifting

The name refers to the feeling of drifting between wakefulness and sleep, and the organizers say they hope it will shape how audiences approach the music. Rather than a conventional festival format, DRIFT is designed to encourage listeners to explore unfamiliar sounds and artists, with an emphasis on immersive production.

A Mystery Campaign Ahead of Launch

Before the event was announced, Untitled Group ran a promotional campaign called "The Drift Study." Residents of Perth and Brisbane were invited to take part in a fictional sleep study through a sequence of clues and an accompanying website. Co-Founder and Managing Partner Nicholas Greco described the goal as creating something that goes beyond the traditional festival experience.

Where DRIFT Fits in the Portfolio

DRIFT joins Untitled Group's existing festivals, which include Beyond The Valley, Pitch Music & Arts Festival and Ability Fest. The Perth edition will be presented in partnership with Garbage, while the Brisbane event will involve Ascend and Kindacool. Presale registration is open now, though pricing details and the full lineup remain to be confirmed.
